Australia’s #1 and world`s #17 Alex de Minaur confirmed his participation at Sofia Open 2021. The Demon is the third Top 20 player who will be presented at the sixth edition of the prestigious tournament in Bulgarian capital. De Minaur joins the defending champion, Itaian tennis sensation Jannik Sinner, and one of the most colorful characters on ATP Tour Gael Monfils.
De Minaur comes to Sofia as a two-time ATP singles title winner in 2021. The young Australian became the first champion of 2021, winning in Antalya and January. Later he added the title on grass in June in Eastbourne for his fifth ATP trophy.
Born in Australia and raised in Spain De Minaur admired growing up Roger Federer and Leyton Hewitt with the latter serving as his mentor. The Demon climbed to a career-high ranking of #15 in June and will look to reach new heights in front of Bulgarian tennis fans.
De Minaur made his debut at Sofia Open last year reaching the quarterfinals before losing to eventual champion Jannik Sinner.
