Karen Khachanov, Daniil Medvedev, Roberto Bautista Agut, Nikoloz Basilashvili, Gael Monfills shone at Sofia Open Player Party which was held at Megami Club in Hotel “Marinela”.
“I feel the energy in Sofia. It is exciting. I have been here once and now I thought – this is a great moment to come again”, Gael Monfils said. He attended the party with his girlfriend Elina Svitolian, who is WTA No 7. The French will donate $100 for each ace he scores in Sofia. The money will go for the kids in an Odessa hospital.
Top-seeded Karen Khachanov was impressed with Bulgaria. “People here are very friendly. Sofia is a beautiful city. I am glad I am here”, world No 11 said.
His compatriot Daniil Medvedev shared his feelings. “A lot of people here talk in Russian, so it is easy to make contact. Even for such a short time here, I am impressed”, the Russian said.
Nikoloz Bashilasvili knows Sofia as he played here in 2017. “Then I was world No 89. Now there is a huge difference in the ranking. I hope, the incredible crowd here will help me”, the Georgian star said.
2016 champion Roberto Bautista Agut has great memories too. “Three years ago I was the top-seeded player here and I was world No 21. Now, there are four Top 20 players here so it is a huge competition. I will play my best each match and I hope I will go deep in the tournament”, the Spaniard said.
