The Turkey’s best player Cem Ilkel is the latest tennis player to receive a wild card for the main draw of the Sofia Open 2023.
The 28-year-old player from Istanbul is ranked 258th this week. Hist best career ranking was at #144 as of November 21, 2021.
The invitation expresses the long-standing and ongoing close cooperation and partnership between the Bulgarian Tennis Federation (BFT) and the Turkish Tennis Federation (TTF).
For Ilkel, this will be the fourth participation in the Bulgarian tournament of the ATP 250 series, after playing twice in the qualifiers (2016, 2021) and once in the main draw (2017).
The other two “wild cards” for this year’s edition of the Sofia Open (November 4-11) were granted to the Bulgarian Davis Cup national team Dimitar Kuzmanov and Alexander Lazarov.
