Gael Monfils came up with an impressive performance in his first Sofia Open 2019 match to outclass his Serbian rival Viktor Troicki 6:3, 6:4 in less than an hour.
Monfils made one break in each set and was stable in his serving games, hitting 9 aces.
The French now has 5 wins in 5 matches against Troicki, who came in Sofia with wild card after playing in the final in 2016.
Monfils will have the chance to face another Serbian if tomorrow Laslo Djere wins against Mikhail Kukushkin from Kazakhstan.
