Dimitar Kuzmanov recorded his first victory in the main draw of ATP 250 Sofia Open. In a match that lasted more than 3 hours, Miko defeated Lorenzo Musetti 6:7 (4), 7:6 (3), 6:3.
Miko, great emotions for you! Can you describe them?
It is too strong; I can’t find words. It is my sixth time playing here, so I’ve waited so long for this win. You know how special this tournament is for me. How special is to play for the Bulgarian fans. I am happy because I played the game I wanted to play. I said before that it is important for me to play well. And the results would come. It happened. I lost the first set but stayed on track with my game plan.
Was this the best match for you this season?
Maybe yes. Maybe it is the best match in my entire career, against one of the best NextGen players. Maybe it is the most important win too. Every win is important, but this one is special.
You won’t play Aleksandar Bublik, but LL Kamil Majchrzak. Do you know him well?
Yes, we know each other very well. We have played a lot of Challengers. He was injured last year, but he is a very solid player. So it won’t be easier.
Should you dedicate this win to anyone?
Maybe to my father. I know he is very happy now. He loved to watch this tournament, not only me here but all the matches. I know now he is very happy, and this makes me stronger.
