Former world number 10 Ernests Gulbis is the first player who guaranteed himself a place in the DIEMA XTRA Sofia Open main draw after the qualifying rounds. The Latvian defeated Floran Mayer (Germany) in the second round 6:4, 6:1 in just 54 minutes.
Gulbis won the first set after making a break in the tenth game. In the second he led 5:0 and won the match.
Mirza Basic made it to the main draw too after winning the Bosnian match against Tomislav Brkic 7:5, 6:4 in 82 minutes.
