3T project’s kids won 21 titles abroad in 2017
World number 28 Gilles Muller gave some tennis classes to the best Bulgarian U12 and U14 players today in Arena Armeec. The Luxembourg born signed tenths of autographs to all the kids. The initiative was part of DIEMA XTRA Sofia Open activities.
The kids, who played with the star today, are part of Bulgarian tennis federation 3T project for development. The project has the ambitious task of helping our youngest tennis players to grow up. In the first edition of the project in 2016, there were only two teams up to 12 years old, and in the past year it covered 4 teams of 4 players at the age of 12 and 14 years old.
The 3T program ensures the participation of adolescents in prestigious international tournaments and takes care of their all year round preparation. It includes work with psychologist (Nikolay Ganchev), conditional coach (Todor Ivanov) and kinesitherapist (Algis Hristov) as well as the organization of training camps. The coaches travel with children, and they are grouped as a team that is proven to be the world’s best practice for talent development.
The young tennis players of Bulgaria won a total of 21 titles from the prestigious international tournaments which are part of the 3T program. 10 of them are on single and the rest are on doubles. They also won another 5 titles from “consolation tournaments” and in other 12 times they played in the finals.
At the 14-year-olds Daria Radulova (Tennis Club Augusta Trayana, Stara Zagora) won two single titles from tournaments which are part of the project, like the one from Maia (Portugal) which was from the First category of Tennis Europe. Later, she won a bronze medal at the Orange Bowl in the United States, a World Individual Junior Championships, and played in the Masters in Reggio Carabria (Italy), where she finished fifth.
With two single titles and a final during the year is Piotr Nesterov (Tennis Club “Black Sea Elite”, Varna). He also entered the first 8 in the European Individual Championship.
Two titles for the “B” team up to 14 years old were brought by Katerina Dimitrova (Tennis Lokomotiv 98, Plovdiv). She and Dinko Dinev (Tennis Club Chernomoretz and Avenue, Burgas) were the only players who participated in the project in both years, thanks to the quota for the best 13-year-olds.
The young Rositsa Dencheva (Tennis Club Pleven 90) won the international tournament in Dobrich and before that triumphed in the most important tennis tournament in the world for girls and boys up to 10 years old “Smrikva Bowl” in Croatia.
Adriano Jenev (Tennis Club “Haskovo 2015”), who played for the trophy of three 3T’s tournaments, became a specialist in reaching the finals.
All this wouldn’t be possible without the support of Bulgarian Tennis Federation partners – BNP Paribas, Advent Group, Ataro Clima and Asics.
In the terms of today’s Kids Day open tennis lessons with children had the Bulgarian players Alexandar Lazov and Alexandar Lazarov, too.
