Richard Gasquet completed the final eight at 2020 Sofia Open. The experienced Frenchman eased through the Czech wild card Jonas Forejtek and won 6:4, 6:2 in 69 minutes.
Gasquet served solid and saved all two breakpoints. He managed to copy Forejtek’s serve and broke him once in the first and twice in the second set for the win.
Next, the Frenchman will face Salvatore Caruso who eliminated earlier today the second-seeded Felix Auger-Aliassame in straight sets.
Forejtek should be happy with his stay in Sofia. At his debut in ATP Tour main draw, he managed to get first win, and it was more than special – 6:3, 6:1 against Marin Cilic in the first round.
The match against Caruso on Thursday will be third quarter-final for the season for Gasquet. He advanced to QFs at Montpellier (ret. vs. Pospisil due to abdominal injury) and Dubai (l. to Monfils). If he wins, it will be his first semi-final for 2020.
