Marcos Baghdatis forced to withdraw in Sofia

The Cypriot can’t play because of a foot injury

One more seeded player was forced to withdraw without playing a single point at Garanti Koza Sofia Open 2017. A day after Philipp Kohlschreiber, seeded N6, announced he won’t come in the Bulgarian capital because of a back pain, Marcos Baghdatis withdrew due to a foot injury.

The Cypriot is seeded number 7 in Sofia. The 31-year-old 2006 Australian Open Finalist is now number 35 in the world. His injury will favor the “lucky loser” Marco Tepavac, who lost in the second qualifying round to Maximilian Marterer 6:7 (4), 5:7.

Tepavac is the second “lucky loser” in Sofia alongside with Teymuraz Gabashvili. The Russian lost today to Daniel Brands 4:6, 6:3, 4:6, but will play in the main draw instead of injured Philipp Kohlschreiber.
