Matos/Vega Hernandez battled their way to the Sofia Open’s doubles final

Brazil’s Rafael Matos and Spain’s David Vega Hernandez reached the doubles final at the Sofia Open 2022. In the second semi-final match, the No. 2 seeds survived a championship tiebreak over another international pair – Hugo Nys (Monaco) / Jan Zielinski (Poland) – 7:5, 5:7, 10-5. The match in the central hall of “Arena Armeec” was extremely even and lasted more than 2 hours, which rarely happens in a doubles match.

Matos/Vega Hernandez are ranked at N16 in Pepperstone ATP Race to Turin.

Their opponents in the final on Sunday will be the Germans Fabian Faller and Oscar Otte, who yesterday stopped the Top-seeded Fabio Fognini (Italy) / Simone Bolelli (Italy) – 6:3, 7:5.

Monegasque-Polish pair lifted their first trophy in just ninth tour-level event together las Sunday in Metz, but couldn’t repeat it this week in Sofia.

The final is on Sunday at 14:00.
