The 2020 Sofia Open top-seed Denis Shapovalov will make his debut early in the week. The Canadian will play on Tuesday his first match. His opponent will be the Moldovian top player Radu Albot.
“He is a very tough opponent. I think anyone in the draw here is very difficult. Every tournament this year was very strong. Definitely, there are no easy matches. But like I said, I have been practising well and I feel well, so I am excited to get going”, Shapovalov said.
Tomorrow the local crowd will have the chance to support the local heroes Dimitar Kuzmanov and the Serbian Viktor Troicki, who is one of the most loved players at Sofia Open. They will play on Tuesday against the top-seeded double Eduard Roger-Vasselin/Jurgen Melzer in the start of the 2020 Sofia Open Doubles. The French is the current world No 20, and Meltzer is 29th. The Austrian has won the title in the last Sofia Open edition – in 2019, playing along with Nikola Mektic (Cro).
