Lorenzo Musetti will be the second Italian who leads the draw in the history of the Sofia Open ATP 250 tournament. The second-best Italian will start his third Bulgarian campaign as the top seed being current world #22.
In 2021 and 2022 the top seed was another Italian – Jannik Sinner, who already keeps Sofia with remarkable feelings. Here, he won his first career title and here he became the first Sofia Open champion who defended his title and the only Sofia Open champion who won the title without dropping a set!
Now Musetti is in a great position to repeat the success of his compatriot. His first opponent in “Arena Sofia” should be the winner between Jack Draper and Maximilian Marterer.
In the same half of the draw are also the third seed – Jan-Lennard Struff (Ger), the fifth – Alexei Popyrin (Aus) and the 8th – Morton Fucsovics (Hun).
Popyrin will face one of the favourites of the local fans and the first Sofia Open champion – Roberto Bautista Agut, whose first and only indoor title to date came in Sofia in 2016.
The Bulgarian second-best player – Dimitar Kuzmanov, will start his new campaign against another “wild card” – the Turkish best player, Cem Ilkel.
In the bottom part of the draw, the second seed Adrian Mannarino, who is currently the best Frenchman in the Tour, will face in his first match in Sofia, the winner between the Spaniards Roberto Carballes Baena and Albert Ramos-Vinolas. In his half of the draw are also Sebastian Baez (Arg), seeded 4th and Sebastian Ofner (Aut), seeded 7th.
