Tsitsipas shine in Sofia, Greek crowd made him feel home

Stefanos Tsitsipas overcame some though minutes but passed the first obstacle at Sofia Open 2019. The Greek, second seed, defeated Jan-Lennard Shtruff 7:6 (5), 6:4 in an hour and a half.

The 20-year old served solid and never missed a serve-game. He hit 10 aces and made 4 double faults. Shtruff made 7 aces.

Strong Greek support in “Arena Armeec” made Tsitsipas feel like home in Sofia. 5000 people watched the match in the Arena.

“In Australia, I felt like I am playing in Athens, but today it felt like home because of the support of so many of my compatriots. It was great that I practiced yesterday at the Centre Court, so I knew what to expect. This helped me a lot for the adaptation”, Tsitsipas said.
