The top-seeded Belgian double – Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen left early the Sofia Open 2023 and ended their dream for a third season ATP title. Belgians, who are currently world #12, lost to Ariel Behar form Uruguay and Adam Pavlasek from Czechia 6:7(9), 1:6.
Behar/Pvlasek’s next opponents are experienced Simone Bolelli (Italy) and Matwe Middelkoop (Netherlands).
Yanaki Milev and Piotr Nestorov became the only Bulgarians with a win at the local ATP250 event. The young prodigies downed in only an hour Spaniards Inigo Cervantes and David Vega Hernandes 6:3, 6:4.
Americans Evan King and Reese Salder reached quarterfinals too defeating Francisco Cabral (Portugal) and Henry Patten (Great Britain) 7:6 (4), 4:6, 10-7.
