The Bulgarian still don’t think for the title
Home favourite Grigor Dimitrov delighted the Bulgarian fans as he reached the semi-finals of the Garanti Koza Sofia Open with a 6:3, 6:3 victory over last year’s runner-up, Viktor Troicki. Here is what he said at the press conference:
You started this year very strong! Is Baby Federer grew up and stands up to be a champion?
Yeah, so far everything is being gone pretty well. I am playing good tennis, throughout the whole year, keeping healthy. I feel happy. Growing up. Just focusing on myself. Focusing on my game. I put everything to rest for now – nicknames, predictions, ranking – everything like that is put aside. I am focusing on target.
This was a Balkan derby. Do you think that tennis on Balkans is growing and the players from the Balkans are taking over the tennis courts?
Hopefully! We are coming from small countries with not that much tradition for that. But it is always pleasant and nice to have familiar faces and familiar languages. I think we are pretty friendly in the locker room and even on the court. That helps. When we play at home the crowd respects both sides. We appreciate that a lot.
Do you feel that you are a favorite for the title here?
No. Yes. May be. Step by step. It is good to have confidence. But it is better to show it on the court.
