Canadian Open champion Pablo Carreno Busta to play at Sofia Open 2022

World No.14 is the fifth star to confirm its Sofia participation after Jannik Sinner, Gael Monfils, Stan Wawrinka and Lorenzo Musetti

Pablo Carreno Busta, who earlier this month won the ATP 1000 Canadian Open, is the latest big name to confirm its Sofia Open 2022 participation. The Spaniard, ranked 14th in the world, will play at the seventh edition of the ATP 250 tournament in Sofia, September 25 – October 2.

The win in Montreal was the seventh ATP singles title undoubtedly the biggest in Carreno Busta’s career. The Spaniard, a former world No.10, is a two-time US Open semifinalist (2017 and 2020) and a two-time French Open quarterfinalist (2017 and 2020). He also won a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics beating along the way Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev.

Carreno Busta is the fifth star to come to Bulgaria this year. Sofia Open 2022 will feature the Italian tennis sensation and two-time defending champion Jannik Sinner. Last year’s runner-up Gael Monfils will make his third appearance in Arena Armeec. The three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka and world No.30 and ATP 500 Hamburg champion Lorenzo Musetti will also play in the tournament.
