19-year-old Holger Rune qualified for Sofia Open semi-finals at the Sofia Open 2022 after defeating in three-set Ilya Ivashka. The Dane has guaranteed a place in 2022 Intesa Sanpaolo Next Gen ATP Finals, and will move to Top 30 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings next week. In the eagerly awaited semi-final the teen will face the two-time champion in Sofia Jannik Sinner.
“I feel good, and, of course, very tired. It was a very tough match, but I stood it and I am going on. It will my first semi-final on hard court. It’s going to be a great match. At the moment I need some serious recovery after the two three-sets matches in a row, but I will try to be 100% ready physically and play completely free of preasure. In fact, I have nothing to lose, regarding what results Jannik has achieved. But I believe in myself,” said Holger Rune.
