The top 3 qualifier seeds reached main draw at Sofia Open 2022

All calm at Sofia Open 2022 qualifiers – all top seeds reached the main draw of the 250 ATP tournament this year.

Ugo Humbert went in without losing a set, winning today 6:3 7:6 (3) to Filip Cristian Jianu. The left-handed Frenchman dominated the court in the first set and closed it in half an hour. In the second set, the Romanian managed to resist, but the top seed was stable and won it in the tie-break. Humbert’s next opponent will be the “wild card” local hero Dimitar Kuzmanov.

Jan-Lenard Struff, the second-seeded stopped the Sofia Open 2018 Champion Mirza Bašić (Bosnia and Herzegovina) 6:3, 6:4, and for the third time in his career (after 2019 and 2020) will play in the main draw in Sofia. In the first round of the main draw, Struff will face Dusan Lajovic (Serbia).

Despite the defeat, 2018 champion Bašić also found a spot in the main draw as a “lucky loser”, taking the place of Jack Draper (Great Britain). In the first round, Bašić will play Nuno Borges (Portugal).

Third seed Geoffrey Blancaneaux (France) made a remarkable comeback in a second match in a row and also earned his place in the main draw. After beating Robin Haase (Netherlands) on Sunday, on Monday, Blancaneaux stopped the Italian veteran Andreas Seppi (Italy) – 2:6, 6:3, 6:4. In the first round, the Frenchman will play Marc-Andrea Hüssler (Switzerland).

Last to the main draw went Dragos Nicolae Madaras. He finished the fairy tale of Bulgarian absolute debutant Piotr Nestorov – 6:4, 6:2. Madaras’s next opponent will be Oscar Otte (Germany).
